Reginald 'Reg' Tisdale

Reginal "Reg" Lindsey Tisdale I, 80, passed away peacefully at his home in Indpls on Dec. 12, 2011. He was born in Velpen, IN on September 16, 1931. The only child to the late Opal and Lillian Tisdale, his early years were spent in Southern Indiana. Because of his father's occupation of road construction, he attended many high schools in Indiana, but in 1949 he graduated from Howe High School. After High School graduation he enlisted in the Navy and was stationed at Annapolis, Maryland where he was assigned to the Medical Corp. and shipped to Japan for Duty. While in Japan he became a lifetime member of Nippon Masonic Lodge. After honorable discharge from the Navy, under GI bill, he entered Purdue University School of Engineering of which he graduated in 3 ½ years in 1956 with Magna Cum Laude while working for Dr. Frank Peyton. Upon graduation he moved to Indpls to work for Ryerson steel as a Rep. Several years later US Steel hired him as National Sales Man going from coast to coast selling reinforcing steel for many large structures throughout the country. He was most proud of the Super Dome in New Orleans and many stadiums he helped build throughout the country. After tired of being away from his family, he decided to goes into his own business as Steel Rep and remained in business until he retired in 1996. After retirement, for the next 16 years, he spent the winters at Folly Beach, SC. He bought a condo that over looked the Atlantic Ocean . He loved Folly and his many, many dear friends there. He was a 32 degree Mason, member of the Scottish Rite and Murat Shrine and a former member of Good Shepherd Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marlane and five children, Lisa (Tom) Wolf, Lynn Lines, Lindsey (Maria) Tisdale, Ray and Ron Tisdale; 4 grandchildren, Taylor Wolf, Andrew Lines, Mackenzie Tisdale and Raymond Dylan Tisdale. Reginald was preceded in death by grandson Matt Wolf. A funeral service will be Sunday at 2:00PM at Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St. with visitation from 12:00-2:00PM. Burial will be Monday at 10:00AM at Washington Park East Cemetery. The family would wish to thank Hospice Care and Home Instead for their love and great comforting care they provided, a special thanks to Bockoree and Ruthie.
