Regina “Gina” Vuskovich, 65, of Zionsville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. A devoted wife, mother, sister, Gina will be remembered as the life of the party, and for her generous spirit, warmth, and incredible style.
Born on March 2, 1960, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Gina was the beloved daughter of the late Patricia and Robert Browning Trussell. She grew up in a lively, Catholic family with her six siblings, all of whom shared in her quick wit and love of laughter. Gina came from a family of inventors and equestrians. An experienced horsewoman, she showed hunter jumpers. Gina attended JFK Prep and Homestead High School, which sparked her love of acting and performance. A lifelong lover of the theater and a patron of the arts, she was a member of the Experience Theatre Company in Milwaukee and stunned as the lead in the play Vanities.
In 2001, Gina married the love of her life, Joe Vuskovich. Together, they co-founded and built the beloved Yats Cajun Creole restaurant chain, a local institution. Her innovative mind and playful spirit helped shape a business that felt more like family to employees and customers alike. Gina was a proud member of the Columbia Club of Indianapolis and was known as a business savvy entrepreneur and “Capa Suprema” of the Yats franchise. Over the years, Gina opened 30 restaurants, including Regina’s Club Cafe in Lexington, KY, as well as Chili Baby and Regina’s Cucina in Indianapolis, IN. From jazz clubs in New York to Honky Tonks in Nashville, she had a great appreciation for music and a lovely singing voice. She cherished the history and culture of New Orleans and felt most at home there.
Gina is preceded in death by her father, Robert Browning Trussell and mother, Patricia Downey Trussell. She is survived by her devoted husband, Joe Vuskovich; her children, Hayley, Logan, and Caitlin (Allan) Trussell; and her siblings Laura (Mark) Messersmith, Gail (Rob) Mancuso, Marna (Greg) Wendling, Matt Trussell, Lisa (Larry) Lato, and Robert (Martha) Trussell.
She will be laid to rest in a private burial near the Gothic Chapel in Crown Hill Cemetery.
