We mourn the passing of Rebecca (Becky) Kenyon-van Lier on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at her residence in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on December 4, 1952, in Olathe, Kansas, Becky passed away at the age of 72.
Becky received her education in Kansas and ultimately earned her Ph.D. in Grain Science from Kansas State University, where she conducted research on the adverse effects of aflatoxins in grains. She was subsequently recruited by Eli Lilly and Company’s Animal Sciences division, where she designed and developed various formulations of Elanco’s feed products, including Tylosin® and Rumensin®.
After a strategic shift in her career, Becky pursued her passion for writing documentation, resulting in the publication of several books by Macmillan. She then transitioned to working for Dome Software Company in Carmel, Indiana, and later KPMG, where she developed technical manuals and training materials. Subsequently, she provided similar training and learning materials for several other prominent accounting companies, ultimately working through St. Charles Consulting Group.
Becky is survived by her husband, Robert van Lier; Jason, and his wife, Bonnie Kenyon of Youder, Colorado; her sister, Mary and brother-in-law, Ronald Young, of Lenexa, Kansas, and her brother, Scott Kenyon, and his husband, David Fuhr; of Houston, Texas.
Because of her enduring fondness of cats, in lieu of sending flowers consider donating to Cat’s Haven, 2603 N. College Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46205, a local cat shelter.
