Becky's Life—From Quiet Girl to Quite a Girl!
Rebecca L. "Becky" Kruger was born on January 12, 1956 in Indianapolis, Indiana and passed away on October 21, 2013 at the Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center. This was after a long struggle (4 ½ years and 19 days) with stage 4 BAC lung cancer. Upon her diagnosis which was non-operable and non-curable, she endured numerous treatments. BAC lung cancer is most commonly found in non-smoking white and Asian women.
Rebecca grew up as a very quiet girl on the southwest side of Indianapolis in a log cabin and graduated from Decatur Central High School in 1974. She married her husband, Ed Kruger, in May 1979. She worked at a variety of insurance companies, including Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, Fidelity and Deposit Insurance, American States, and SAFECO.
Becky enjoyed being a Marching Band Booster Mom while her boys were in junior and senior high school. She collected Owl memorabilia and loved to travel. She had visited over 20 major US cities and attended over 200 rock concerts with her family. Her favorite times during the year were the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons.
Becky is survived by her husband Ed and three sons, Edward, Jonathan, and Andrew. She is also survived by daughter-in-law Kelsey Kruger; mother, Pat Hammons; brothers, Robert and Ron Hammons; and sisters, Robin Frazier and Rhonda White.
As her three boys grew up, Becky always wanted a girl. Her husband made this wish come true. So it should come as no surprise that her first date with Ed was to the movie Animal House. They ended up having four wonderful pet girls—Izzy (a miniature pom), Lexi (a full- sized pom), Lilly (an American Eskimo), and Sidney (a puggle).
Becky was liked by everyone she met and never met anyone she didn't like. She never complained, and most people had no idea she was sick. Quite a girl!
Services for Services for Rebecca will be Thursday, October 24 at 11 A.M. at Flanner and Buchanan-Decatur, with visitation there on Wednesday, October 23 from 4-8 P.M. She'll be laid to rest at Floral Park Cemetery following the service.
