Rebecca Ann Baire

Rebecca Ann Baire, 68, of Avon, Indiana, passed away on August 20, 2026. She was born on January 27, 1958, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Eugene and Nina Mae (Brown) Baire.

Becky was a 1976 graduate of George Washington High School. Throughout her working years, she was employed by Chase Bank, CSC Credit Services, and Nelnet, where she worked in data entry.

Becky never married, often joking, “I could never find a man like my brothers.” While she never had children of her own, she considered all of her nieces and nephews to be her kids. They held an incredibly special place in her heart, and she took great pride in knowing the birthdays of every one of them, from the oldest to the youngest. Family was at the center of Becky’s life.

She especially loved family cookouts and holiday gatherings and faithfully attended the Baire Family Reunion, never missing one until this year. Some of her happiest times were simply being surrounded by the people she loved.

Becky was an avid football fan who loved cheering on the Indianapolis Colts. She also had a special place in her heart for the Kansas City Chiefs—although she readily admitted that had a lot to do with the fact that she thought Patrick Mahomes was cute.

She was also a true Hoosier when it came to the month of May. Becky never wanted to miss listening to the Indianapolis 500 and enjoyed following the race year after year.

In her younger days, Becky enjoyed playing softball for Parkview Christian Church, where she was a great first baseman and hitter. Her athletic ability went back even further than that. As a child, she was known for being able to outrun every boy in the neighborhood.

Becky enjoyed traveling, especially trips to Tennessee, as well as her one and only trip to Walt Disney World. Some of her favorite trips were the vacations she took with her mom and her Aunt Wanda, creating memories together that Becky treasured throughout her life. When she was still able to drive, one of her favorite cars was her Beretta, which she proudly claimed could “hug the curves.”

Becky was a member of North Salem Christian Church and a former longtime member of Parkview Christian Church. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she especially loved singing in church. The old hymns were always among her favorites, and she loved lifting her voice and singing the songs of faith she had known for so many years.

For the last eight years of her life, Becky made her home at Avon Health & Rehabilitation Center. She enjoyed participating in the many activities there and especially loved sitting outside and soaking up the sunshine whenever she could. Becky formed a special relationship with her nurse Rhonda whose care and kindness meant a great deal to her.

She is survived by her siblings, Larry (Sandra Kay) Baire, Diana Baire Edwards, Rocky (Sandy Rae) Baire, and Robby (Michele) Baire; her beloved nieces and nephews, Rhonda (Chris) Hess, Angie English (Bob), Randy (Tonya) Baire, James Albert (Cassandra) Edwards, Bethany (Chris) Eslinger, Ashlie (Scott) Conway, Brooke Wilson, Jordan Baire, Leah (Ethan) Day, Cameron (Kelsie) Baire, and Taylor (Jamela) Wilson; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Kaylee, Jasimine, Allison, Austin, Taylor, Alexis, Cheyenne, William, Jacob, Brooklyn, Hunter, Zachary, Shelby, Lucy, Zara, and Nellie; and nine great-great-nieces and nephews.

Becky loved each of them dearly. Though she never had children of her own, this was her family, and these were her kids. She knew their birthdays, celebrated their lives, and loved watching the family grow through each new generation.

Becky will be remembered for her love of family, her faith, her sense of humor, her competitive spirit, her love of sports, and the countless memories she leaves behind. Whether it was singing an old hymn at church, gathering around a family cookout, cheering on a football game, listening to the roar of the engines in May, standing at first base on a softball diamond, soaking up the sunshine, or simply spending time with the people she loved, Becky found joy in the people and moments that mattered most.

Her family will deeply miss her presence, her laughter, and most of all, the special way she loved each of them. And Becky would want to leave her nephews with one final request. After all the years they teased her about White Castle—which she definitely did not like—she always said when she was gone she wants them to go have some White Castles, laugh about all the teasing, tell some Aunt Becky stories, and remember all the good times they shared together.

Visitation for Becky will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 5:00–8:00 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan – Decatur Township. A Celebration of Life Service, officiated by Pastor Steve Ranson, will be held there on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

She will be laid to rest at Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield, Indiana.
