Dr. Raymond Wong, DDS November 3, 1959 – 2026
Dr. Raymond Wong, beloved husband, father, dentist, teacher, and friend, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 66 while traveling with his wife in Athens, Greece.
Raymond was born on November 3, 1959, and grew up in Xiamen, China, and Hong Kong. His life eventually took him from China to the Philippines and then to Indiana, where he built his career, raised his family, and made his home.
Raymond attended the University of the East College of Dentistry in the Philippines before continuing his dental education at the Indiana University School of Dentistry. He practiced dentistry in Indianapolis for many years and was proud to care for his patients and their families. He also taught at the IU School of Dentistry, where he enjoyed sharing his knowledge and experience with future dentists.
More than anything, Raymond loved his family. He and his wife, Christine Cheng, shared 35 years of marriage, and he was a devoted father to their only daughter, Ariel. His family was the most important part of his life, and some of their best memories together came from simply spending time with one another.
Raymond loved to eat and was always excited about a good meal. He loved God, traveling, taking walks, being near the water, and spending time with family. He also loved music, especially Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli. He enjoyed seeing new places and experiencing new things, but he was just as happy sharing a meal or going for a walk with the people he loved.
Raymond worked hard throughout his life, but he also knew how to enjoy it. He will be remembered for his love of family, his dedication to his patients and students, his love of food and travel, and all of the little things that made him who he was.
His sudden passing leaves an incredible emptiness for his family and for the many people who knew and loved him. They will miss the meals together, the trips, the walks, the music, and the ordinary moments that now mean so much.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Christine Cheng, and his daughter, Ariel Wong.
A memorial service celebrating Raymond’s life will be held on October 17, 2026, at Chinese Community Church of Indianapolis. Family, friends, patients, colleagues, and all those whose lives were touched by Raymond are invited to join his family in remembering and celebrating his life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chinese Community Church of Indianapolis (Northwest Campus) or the Indiana University School of Dentistry in Raymond’s memory.
