Raymond "Ray" Rizzo

Raymond W. Rizzo,77, died Friday, May 18, 2018. He is survived by his wife Susan, daughter and son-in-law Rainie & Bret Reyburn, son and daughter-in-law Ryan & Angie Rizzo, and grandchildren Anthony James and Megan Elizabeth Rizzo, and Scott Ian Reyburn.

Ray graduated with degrees from Butler University. He had a long and distinguished public service career that began with a Ford Foundation Grant to serve on the Indiana Legislative Council. In 1971, he became the first full time assistant to the Indiana Speaker of the House. He served two terms as Executive Assistant to Governor Dr. Otis R Bowen (1972-1980.) For his service, he received the Sagamore of the Wabash award from governors, Dr. Otis Bowen and Robert Orr. He later served as Corporate Secretary for Hooks Drugs, as Regional Vice President of the Tobacco Institute, and chairman of the Indiana State Parole board.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Flanner Buchanan-Zionsville, 105 W Pine St., from 5-8PM. Private burial will take place at Zionsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Hook Drug Foundation Fellowship, the Zionsville American Legion, or alz.org.
