Raymond (Ray) E. Bachert

On Friday, June 23, 2023, at age 77, Raymond Edward Bachert, loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, cousin, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. Ray was born September 4, 1945, to Ora and Mabel (Schacht) Bachert. In 1968 Ray married Karen (Kerns) Bachert and they raised their three daughters, Michelle (Sam) Schenk, Susan (Brad) Sponhauer and Mary (Matt) McGreal in South Bend, IN.

Ray was a 1963 graduate of North Judson High School and Acme Institute of Technology. He worked as a Mechanical Engineer.

Ray enjoyed an early retirement, traveling, gardening, and helping on the family farm. Ray loved gathering with and attending all the events of his 10 grandchildren, Ally, Mike, Lucy, Carrie, Max, Luke, Miles, Katie, Eli, and Annie.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jim. He is survived by his wife, kids, grandkids and brother Art (Christie) Bachert, sister Karen (Bruce) Zimmerman and sister-in-law Susie Bachert and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

On Wednesday, June 28, family and friends are invited to gather at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 17102 Spring Mill Road, Westfield, IN 46074. The Viewing will be from 12:00- 2:00 with the Mass beginning at 2:00 EST.

Immediately following the Mass, there will be a graveside service with a Rosary and a Celebration of Life meal at Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park – Prairie Waters, 4180 Westfield Rd (St Rd 32), Westfield, IN 46062.
