Dr. Raymond L. Husband

d. November 21, 2023

Westfield, Indiana

Dr. Raymond Lee Husband, 77, originally from Hazel Park, Michigan, unexpectedly passed away on November 21, 2023, after a brief illness. He was a highly regarded psychologist, educator, industry executive, and consultant. Many saw him as a mentor and a trusted counselor, which served him well in more than 35 years of consulting with executives and leaders across the country. His family saw him as a wonderful and devoted dad, grandfather, and husband, who was always available to talk through any problem or worry. He was an avid and lifelong supporter of the University of Michigan, his alma mater, and he also earned degrees from Central Michigan University and Michigan State University. Ray was a dedicated follower of the teachings of Jesus Christ and was happiest spending time with his three grandchildren and with his wife, Carol.

Some of his most meaningful conversations in this last chapter of life took place as part of a small Christian gathering called The Bond, and his family is grateful for the group’s fellowship. For the past three years he also co-led a podcast with his twin brother called Twins Talk Clear-cut Communication, which provides teaching on how to communicate more effectively as a leader. A brief ode written recently by a Bond member captures some of Ray’s gifts: “…Many lives across the years/Rooted in faith seeds planted/by this teacher, thought leader/Socratic engager, truth framer…”

His wife, Carol Ann Husband, preceded him in death in 2022, and Ray’s survivors will deeply miss both him and Carol. They include his son, Matt Husband and his wife, Erin Husband, of Carmel, Indiana; his daughter, Rebecca Husband and her husband, Michael Doyle, of Silver Spring, Maryland; his grandchildren, Jane and Elinor Husband of Carmel, Indiana and Myles Doyle of Silver Spring, Maryland; brother Robert Husband and his family, of Champaign, Illinois; and the Vigneault and Hathaway families of Colorado and Michigan, from Carol’s side of the family.

In lieu of flowers, food or gifts, Ray’s family would encourage you to make a donation in his name to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library at https://imaginationlibrary.com/, which champions a cause very close to Carol’s heart by inspiring a love of reading in children. No services are scheduled at this time.
