Ray Turner

March 15, 1926 — April 7, 2011

Ray Turner, 85, of Paragon passes away April 7, 2011. Ray was born March 15, 1926 in Casey County, Kentucky to William and Dorothy McKinley Turner and was the brother of Coy, Roy, Ruby and Silivia. On July 9, 1944 Ray enlisted in the US Army. Stationed in Germany, he served his country until November 15, 1948 when he received honorable discharge. He re-enlisted on November 28, 1950 and was stationed in Battle Creek, Michigan until honorably discharged in July 18, 1951. Ray found the love of his life when he met Beulah Godsey, they were married on January 22, 1946 and were together 50 years until Beulah’s passing in 1996. He was the father of Dotty, Judy, Linda, Larry and Karen and thought as “Dad” by his son-in-laws Jim, Ed, Greg and Charles. Ray has 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. At the age of 65 Ray retired from Superior Oil and had more time to enjoy his pleasures in life. He loved to camp and fish in his earlier years, and later enjoyed working in his garden. The past few years Ray took great joy in supervising the garden chores, especially paying attention to whoever was cutting the grass. He was like a cop enforcing the speed limit. He was a simple man and didn’t need much more than the love of his family to be happy. Ray never said a negative thing, unless it was the Colts. He favorite team was whoever they were playing. As Ray’s mobility decreased during the past couple of years, his family kept him happy and remained positive with their love and support. His children put his needs first, allowing Ray to live in a loving home enviorment. You are invited to go to the Guest Book page to pass along your personal message or tell a story.
