Ray Broshears, 90, of Indianapolis passed away, Saturday, April 19, 2014
He was born on August 21, 1923 to Irvin and Hazel Broshears of Dale, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Lois and Geniva.
Ray is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jo, son, Butch (Bonnie) Broshears; daughter, Sharon (Kelly) VanArsdale; sister, Mildred (Stan) Ames.
Ray was the proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.
Ray was a WWII Veteran, he served in the "Battle of the Bulge" and was the recipient of three Bronze Stars.
He served 20 years on the Indianapolis Police Department. For 20 years he was employed in the carpet industry. For the last 30 years he has worked at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and as a "Yellow Shirt" and Red Coat" museum host.
Ray was a member of the National Fraternal Order of Police, Masonic Bridgeport Lodge #162, American Legion Speedway 500 and Moose Lodge, Speedway 500.
Ray enjoyed spending time with his family and spending time on the golf course. He also enjoyed fishing and auto racing. He loved his country music and playing the guitar.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Flanner and Buchanan-Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Rd.
Visitation will be 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the funeral home.
