On Wednesday, March 13th, 2024, Randy Ashton Rodriguez, exuberant son and brother, passed away at the age of 51. Randy, better known as “Cheech” and “The Life of the Party”, was born August 14, 1974, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He is survived by his parents, Jose and Alice; brothers, Robert and Joe; sister-in-law, Amy; nephews, Gabriel, Nathan, John Michael, and Nicholas; nieces, Isabella and Penelope, and his favorite canine, Stymie. He is preceded in death by the family rottweiler, Frankenstein.
Cheech attended Kalamazoo Central High School and had a variety of careers. You name it, he did it, and did it well. Some of these included being a Bartender, Waiter, Butcher, Car Detailer, Upholsterer, Restaurant Maintenance Manager (several McDonald’s locations), Bouncer, Welder, Handyman, Cement Worker, Collector (don’t ask), Caretaker and amateur pyromaniac (don’t worry he was only obsessed with fireworks on the 4th of July, his favorite holiday).
Randy also spent his last ten years taking care of mom and dad as they slowed down, as we all will. We should all be so lucky to have the ultimate butler, driver, and motivator to live life to its fullest. He pushed mom and dad to their limits with weekly poker games and occasional trips to the local casino.
He will be missed as he lit up the room whenever he walked in.
There was never a dull moment with Randy’s presence.
A public visitation will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 9am-12pm, with a funeral service at 12 pm at Flanner Buchanan - Oaklawn Memorial Gardens - Conner Suite (9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46250). After his service, a police escort procession will safely take everyone from the funeral home to his final resting place for his burial at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
After the conclusion of his burial, Randy's celebration will continue back at the funeral home (Flanner Buchanan - Oaklawn Memorial Gardens: 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46250) to continue sharing memories and celebrating life like Randy did, from 2:30p-5:30p.
Flowers and donations may be sent to the funeral home.
