Randolph L. "Duck" Poynter, 66, of Plainfield, IN passed away March 2, 2014. He was a truck driver for Service Supply Co., Consolidated Freightways, and YRC, and he was a Teamsters Local 135 retiree. He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Norma Jean Poynter. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a Founding Member of the Mooresville American Legion Post #103, a Life Member of the Mooresville VFW Post #111, and SAL Post #64 of the American Legion. He is survived by his son, Randy (Ivy) Poynter; stepchildren, Alan (Janie) Puett, Victoria Aydelott, and Gary Puett; grandchildren, Ryan Puett, and A.J., Brandon, Chadd, and Jacqueline Amenta; sisters, Kathy (Lee) Seitz, Barbara Grimes, Georgia Kay Neal, and Guywanna Brown; brothers, George (Jill) Jr. and Steve (Mike) Poynter; and his loving friend, Amy. He was also preceded in death by his parents, George and Marjorie Poynter, and siblings, Judy Roth, Vickee Travis, Jimmy Grider, and Bobby Poynter. Services will be held Friday, March 7, 2014 11 AM at Flanner and Buchanan-Decatur Township with visitation there Thursday, March 6th 4-8 PM. He will be laid to rest at Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
