Our beloved son, brother, cousin, friend was hard-working and adventurous.
As a gifted speaker with old-fashioned values, he was well-versed and always ready for a debate. He was a charitable person and had a soft spot for veterans as well as anyone who was down on their luck. He was a lover of Christmas and all that it represented.
While growing up, he was always the last child to fall asleep. He was the kid who rode wheelies on his bicycle or tried to make wings so he could fly by jumping off the roof of a shed in the backyard. He was very active for an only son and his invincible spirit led him to never turn down a challenge he felt was worth his while. In business, this led him to make deals he just couldn't turn down and still believed in the barter system.
A true boomer at heart, he enjoyed roller-skating, playing guitar, singing and classic country-rock music. His best memories were of the winter of '78, mom's famous chili, the pets we had growing up and extended cousins at family picnics.
Teased about his height also, he made up for it in risk-taking sports such as motorcycle drag racing, slalom water-skiing and once sky-diving. His bucket list filled up pretty quickly for someone with all that gumption.
He was a craftsman both in billiard tables and kitchen remodeling. He mastered anything mechanical from motorcycles to computers and loved a good laugh. He lived life in a hurry, on full-throttle and loved how things are made. Fast thinking, boisterous talker, he enjoyed the outdoors and ANYthing with wheels on the open road.
In true Gemini fashion, he was very protective of his friends who All knew how vehemently he disliked poor customer service and societal norms which made for very animated conversations about life's expectations.
Randy loved all animals- all creatures, critters great and small. He especially loved his spoiled dogs over the years and misunderstood bully breeds were his children- from his first boxer-Jack, then Punkin and Sweetie, later Val and bulldog Trixie. then 2 bullies Turbo and Chevy which were trained by him in German commands.
Randy was preceded in death by his mother-Linda A. Schwind.
Survivors of the family include: father- Don G. Schwind,
Sisters-Dana (Keith) Condra, Darlene (Edward) Wade, Brenda Schwind,
Nephews- Matt Barksdale, Nick (Keely) Mitchell.
Randy was devoted to his current beloved dogs whom he felt were his children: Bullys Turbo and Chevy. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the local bully breed rescue of your choice.
And from his own words-
Randy himself wanted everyone to know-" Appreciate the gift of time with your entire family and friends now or as he would say: "Tomorrow is not promised."
Visitation for Randy will be held at Flanner Buchanan - Washington Park East (10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229) on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 from 4pm to 8pm, and continue the following morning on Thursday, August 20, 2026 from 10am to 12pm. Funeral service will begin at noon.
