Randall Lee Poynter, 67, of Shelbyville, passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021. He was born on August 7, 1953 in Beech Grove, IN to the late Robert Dale and Annabelle (Matlock) Poynter.
Randy was a 1972 graduate of Triton Central High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, retiring after 20 years of service to his country. During his time of enlistment, he travelled all over the world and learned valuable skills. Upon his return to Indiana he enrolled in ITT Technical Institute of Indianapolis and spent many years working as a technician for AT Systems. Randy was very skilled with his hands and was a self-titled ‘Computer Geek’. He spent a lot of his free time attending swap meets and talking on his HAMM Radio and CB Radio; he was known to many in that community as KB9SQW and Super Chicken. Randy was a fun-loving guy with a soft spot in his heart for dogs. He loved his large family and spending time with his siblings and many nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his twin sister, Sandy Michaelis; and siblings, Brenda Pruitt, Tim Poynter, Kenny Poynter, Robin Stinger, Lisa Poynter and Linda Jones; along with several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Michael Poynter, Bobby Poynter, Teresa Poynter, Gary Poynter; and brother-in-law, Donald Pruitt.
