Ralph Johnson

Ralph Johnson, 84, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 surrounded by his family.  He was born on January 30, 1937 in Pineville, KY to the late Fred and Francis Ellen (Hubbard) Johnson.  On September 13, 1986 he married Evelyn Janet (Cross) Johnson. They celebrated 36 years of marriage this past September.  For the last three years Ralph and Evelyn lived at The Wellington at Southport Assisted Living Facility. Ralph retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years. Ralph was a longtime member of Peace Freewill Baptist Church where he sang in the choir.  He was a loving family man and a hard worker.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, nature, animals, woodworking and archery.  He was a Lifetime member of The National Rifle Association Ralph is survived by his wife, Evelyn Johnson; brother JB Johnson, sister, Joyce Adams; daughter, Tammy Thomas; stepson, Johnny Colbert; stepdaughters, Janis Luke and Diana Meador; grandchildren, Gary Thomas, Troy Thomas, Amanda Johnson and Jessica (Nate) Ballard and seven great-grandchildren; thirteen step grandchildren; and sixteen step great-grandchildren. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Ginger Johnson; brothers, Virgil Johnson and Curtis Johnson. Also his pups Bam-Bam, Mopsy and Tipsy. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 12-2pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East with a funeral service immediately following. Entombment will take place in Washington Park East Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be given to the NRA or the Indianapolis Humane Society.
