Ralph E. Orr

Ralph E. Orr 90, of Speedway, IN, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2010. Ralph was born on April 18, 1920 in Vincennes, IN to Frederick H. and Dove Mae Orr whom preceded him in death. He was a four year veteran of WW II. He also served three months of active duty during the Korean War and served six years of reserved duty. On August 7, 1945 he married Helen V (nee Pinchart) Orr in Valenciennes, France. He had studied law at LaSalle University Extension, Chicago, IL. He was retired from American Mutual Liability Insurance Company, Indianapolis, IN after 16 years. Previously he was with the Vincennes Municipal Fire Department serving as Captain, Assistant Chief and Chief. He had also worked in the Chief Arson Division, Indiana State Fire Marshall’s Office. He was past president, chairman and on the board of directors for the Indiana Fire Chiefs Association and director of Knox County Ground Observer Corps. He is survived by his wife Helen V. Orr and daughter Janine H. Orr. Visitation will be Sunday, October 31, 2010 from 2 to 6 pm at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Speedway. Services will be Monday at 11 am at St. Christopher Catholic Church. Burial will follow at West Ridge Park Cemetery.
