Rachel Ann Lowe

Rachel Ann Lowe, 58, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home in her bed on July 16, 2026. She was born on March 3, 1968, in Indianapolis.

From the time she was young, Rachel had a fun, lively spirit and a natural ability to bring people together. During her school years, she enjoyed playing basketball and loved to swim. She made many friends throughout every stage of her life, and people were naturally drawn to her humor, energy, and unmistakable presence.

Rachel was a woman who loved deeply, gave generously, and showed up for the people she cared about no matter what. She had one of the biggest hearts and found so much happiness in giving gifts and making the people around her feel special. She was known for her beautiful smile, her love of dancing, her constant joking, and her ability to become the life of any gathering. She knew how to make people laugh, and when Rachel was in the room, her presence could always be felt.

Rachel worked as a waitress for most of her life, where her outgoing personality and natural ability to connect with others made her unforgettable to many. Later, she worked as a caregiver, a role that reflected the compassion, generosity, and tenderness she carried within her.

She was also a cherished member of the Alcoholics Anonymous community on the west side of Indianapolis. Through that community, Rachel formed meaningful friendships, shared her strength, and touched the lives of others who understood the courage it takes to continue moving forward one day at a time.

Rachel’s life was not always easy, but she was incredibly strong. After being diagnosed with a serious illness while she was still young, she continued to press forward and live her life with laughter, music, dancing, and love. Even through the most difficult years of her illness, she tried to live as though nothing could stop her. She refused to allow her struggles or her illness to become the only things people remembered about her.

To her children, Rachel was more than a mother. She carried many roles throughout their lives and loved them with a fierce and unbreakable love. She was always involved, always ready to stand beside the people she loved, and always willing to give whatever she had to someone who needed her. Her family was at the center of her world, and she loved each of them in the biggest way she knew how.

Rachel is survived by her devoted husband, John Donnellan; her mother, Terrill Allen; her stepmother, Carolyn Lowe; her sisters, Cara Lowe and Cadee Lowe; her brother, Ryan Lowe; her children, Brittney Mcalister, Jessica Lowe, and Nathaniel Mcalister; and her four beloved grandchildren, Jayden Bullock, Landon Mcalister, Levi Mcalister, and Runa Vermillion.

She was preceded in death by her father, Casey Lowe, and her nephew, Marcus May.

Rachel’s grandchildren were among the greatest joys of her life, and the love she had for her family could be felt in everything she did. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories filled with laughter, dancing, swimming, friendship, generosity, strength, and a love that was always given wholeheartedly.

Although her absence leaves an immeasurable space in the lives of those who loved her, Rachel’s spirit will continue to live through her children, grandchildren, family, friends, and the many people whose lives she touched.

Rachel Ann Lowe will be deeply missed, endlessly loved, and forever remembered.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026 from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan - Floral Park Funeral Center, located at 425 N. Holt Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222.

The funeral service to celebrate Rachel's life will follow, Sunday, July 26, 2026 at 4:00 PM - also at Flanner Buchanan - Floral Park Funeral Center.

For those that can attend, a graveside burial service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Floral Park Cemetery. Those attending the graveside burial service are asked to please meet in the lobby of Flanner Buchanan - Floral Park Funeral Center at 12:30 PM for a brief time of gathering before processing to the graveside service together.
