Ralph Ross Ringlespaugh, known by "Ross", was born on May 4, 1936 in Indianapolis, IN. He was born into a family of four boys whose initials all were RRR, like their father, except his brother Gary, whose initials were GRR. The Ringlespaugh boys grew up with a love of playing croquet, and it was said they could swing a croquet mallet before they could walk. Ross graduated from Ben Davis High School and then joined the U.S. Navy, where he spent five months stationed on the ship Halsley Taylor. He was honorably discharged for medical purposes. Ross followed the family tradition of working at the United States Post Office, just like his father and oldest brother did for many years. He also worked a the Farm Bureau Co-op for several years. In later years, Ross lived at the Rolands Retirement Community where he had many friends. In elder years, his health became a major issue as lung and throat cancer took a toll on his body. He lost the ability to speak and used a dry erase board to communicate with his family and friends. He spent many weeks going through chemotherapy and radiation. Before Ross' health was a great issue, he spent hours reading his mystery books. He also liked crossword and word search puzzles to entertain himself. Like most Hoosiers, he loved Indianapolis Colts football. He would always ask his children for hats, scarves, comforters, and gloves and such for Christmas and birthday gifts. This year he wanted a Colts clock for his room at Northwest Manor Nursing Home. However, this Christmas, Ross will have a more happy and joyous holiday in heaven with the Lord and other family members. Ross was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lucille Ringlespaugh, his brothers, Ronald and Gary, and a nephew, Michael. He is survived by his children, Christie and David Ringlespaugh, both of Indianapolis; his step-son, Dustin Kimball (Genevieve); his brother, Robert Ringlespaugh (Dorothy), Indianapolis; his sister-in-law, Carol; his nephews, Rick, Danny, and Tim; and his nieces, Lara and Cindy. Services will be on Friday, November 21 at 1 PM at Flanner and Buchanan- Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington Street, with visitation from 11 AM until service time. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors by the Indy Metropolitan Military Honor Guard.
