Phyllis Turner

June 24, 1938 — April 8, 2013

Phyllis Clark Turner 74, a resident of The Hearth at Tudor Village in Zionsville Indiana passed away quietly with several members of her loving family by her side on Monday morning, April 8, 2013 due to complications from emphysema. Phyllis was born on June 24th, 1938 in Keene, New Hampshire and grew up in Charlotte, Vermont. She attended the University of Vermont, but it wasn't until 36 years later (at the young age of 56) that she decided to complete her nursing education in Bradenton, Florida at Manatee Vo-Tech. She proudly received her LPN in 1994. Earlier in her life she inspired many as she worked as an independent business woman and real estate agent while raising 3 children. She successfully operated her business, Turner Reality of Charlotte, for several years. Phyllis will always be remembered as a dedicated caregiver. In 1986 she moved to Bradenton, Fl. to care for her ailing mother. After her mother passed, Phyllis shared her caregiving gifts as a nurse, focusing on hospice care. In 2005, Phyllis chose to move to Zionsville, Indiana to be closer to family. In Indiana, though retired from nursing, she continued her nurturing ways far beyond her family and is remembered fondly for her selfless devotion to her neighbors, friends and members of her church family. Phyllis leaves behind her former husband of 24 years, Robert (Patricia) Turner of Clearwater, Florida; son Glen; daughter Laura (David) Gangstad and their children, Hillary (Matt) Harris and their daughter Audrey, daughter Lindsey, and son Erik; son David (Rosie) and their children Zachary, Adam, Mariah and Olivia. She is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, and sisters in laws. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Clark, Jr. and Doris Appleby Clark, and her brothers, Ralph Clark III (Mary Paolucci, Carole), Steve (Buff) Clark, and Wayne (Faye) Clark. Phyllis also leaves behind her deeply loved and devoted canine companion of 11 years, Molly. Phyllis' family would like to recognize her wonderfully attentive hospice caregiver Anna Carter and her lifelong friends in Michigan, Florida and Vermont. A celebration of Phyllis' life will be held at the Zionsville Presbyterian Church, 4775 W. 116th Street, at 7pm on Thursday, April 11, 2013. On Saturday August 17th, Phyllis will be placed to rest beside her parents and her brothers in the Clark family burial plot in Charlotte, Vermont. In lieu of flowers please send contributions in her memory to either of her designated charities: Hussey Mayfield Library, 250 No. 5th St., Zionsville, IN 46077 or ZPC Great Banquet (attn: Finance office, 4775 W. 116th St., Zionsville, IN 46077.
