Phyllis (DeDe) Jean Moyer Wagner Smith, 81, Carmel, departed this life November 2, 2010. She was born May 23, 1929 in Piqua, Ohio to Ray Edward Moyer and Irma Irene (Gibson) Moyer. DeDe graduated from Piqua High School with academic excellence in 1947. On July 30th,1960, she married Harold (Ike) Wesley Smith, her best friend and husband for over 50 years. He survives. DeDe began her professional career outside the home at the age of 41. She was the first female District Representative for Baskin-Robbins in the state of Indiana, supervising a four (4) state region. DeDe retired at the age of 55 to pursue other interests including photography, poetry, and the creation and maintenance of her own web pages. Her generosity and philanthropy was unknown by most, as she believed in helping those in need to glorify God and not for the praises of men. Many individuals, families, and charities were financially blessed due to DeDe’s spirit of giving. She is survived by her sister, Joy Ilene (Moyer) DeBrosse, daughter, Wesley Dion (Smith) Doyle, son-in-law, John T. Doyle, Jr., three grandchildren, Thomas W. Wagner, Sarah Wesley Frazier and John Thomas Doyle III, and two great-grandchildren. DeDe was preceded in death by her father, beloved mother, and granddaughter Rachael Wesley Doyle. Cremation will be handled through Flanner and Buchanan Zionsville Funeral Center. A celebration of DeDe’s extraordinary life will be held on: Saturday, November 13, 2010 10:30 am to 1:30 pm The Mansion at Oak Hill 5801 E. 116th Street Carmel, IN. 46033 Calling will be at 10:30 with a time of sharing and remembering to begin at 11:30, followed by a luncheon.
