Phyllis A. McClellan

Phyllis A. McClellan, passed away on February 20, 2026, at the age of 91. Phyllis was born in Indianapolis, IN on August 22, 1934, the only child born to parents, Russell and Lola (Baugh) Brinson. She graduated from Arsenal High School and entered the workforce. She retired from SMC Corporation in 2010, where she worked as an administrative assistant in the engineering department.

Phyllis was devoted to her family. She adored time spent with her children and grandchildren and especially during the holidays. Phyllis had a servant’s heart and opened her home to anyone in need. That kind spirit was also carried through in her passion for animals. She would often feed the feral animals in the neighborhood, keeping them fed and making sure they had access to a warm shelter when the weather was cold. Phyllis loved the outdoors, specifically visiting Florida beaches, where she enjoyed feeding the seagulls.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Steven McClellan and one granddaughter, Brandy Brock.

Phyllis is survived by her children: Howard Sims (wife, Sue); David Sims (wife, Shawn), Brett McClellan and Cheryl Smith; grandchildren: Melissa Harris, Brandy Wright, Lee Sims, Lacy Sims, Dwight Sims, Sarah Siebers, Sydney Laros and Lia Smith and Tyler McClellan; great-grandchildren: Graclyn Cothrum, Coltston Cothrum, Hunter Colthrum, Allie Wright, Jamison Wright, Grayson Sims, Maxwell Sims, Scotland Sims, Dakota Sims, Isabell Sims, Chevelle West, Alyssa Odle, Mackenzie Menzie, and Kelsie Reeder, Parker Sims, Justisse Garrett, Amylah Folsem; four great-great-grandchildren; and many other loving extended family and friends.
