Phyllis M. Ruddle
82 of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013. Phyllis was born along with her twin sister, Wanda, on August 9, 1931 in Indianapolis to the late James Henderson and Edith Harris. She was an administrative assistant for Northern Telecom in Dallas, Texas retiring in 1991.
Throughout her life, no matter where she lived, Phyllis and her twin sister Wanda were inseparable. They loved going to Las Vegas and playing the slot machines. They spent every birthday together, often times in Dallas celebrating poolside with Phyllis's group of friends and her beloved dogs. Phyllis moved back to Indianapolis to be with Wanda as she fought her battle with cancer.
Phyllis loved to dance and many family holidays were filled with the sounds of Nat King Cole, Chubby Checker and Frank Sinatra. Phyllis was always dressed "to the nines", even as a senior living in Hoosier Village. Residents and staff often commented on how she always came to dinner with her jewelry on and her makeup and hair done as if she were going out on the town!!!!
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 18 at Flanner and Buchanan-Carmel , where family and friends are invited to gather from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
Phyllis will be greatly missed by her niece, Nancy Lauer-Moore (husband, Steve), with whom she had a close relationship. She often referred to her as "my daughter". She will also be missed by her niece, Leticia Shelley (husband Greg); nephew, Mark Peredo (wife Cecilia); sisters, Barbara Peredo (husband Jaime) and Sonja Lucy; great nieces and nephews, Matt and Caleb Lauer, Dane and Grant Shelley, and Callie, Conor, and Carrie Peredo.
