Phyllis Rene Lee Howard, beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, and friend, passed away January 21, 2024, at the age of 65. Born on August 7, 1958, in Indianapolis, IN, Phyllis was a kind-hearted and compassionate soul who brought joy to everyone she met.

Phyllis began her career at Chevrolet at the young age of 18, right after graduating from Pike High School in 1977. Devoted and hardworking, she dedicated 30 years of her life to UAW Allison Transmission before retiring. Her commitment and diligence served as an inspiration to her colleagues.

Despite being busy with work, Phyllis always made time for her family and friends. One of her fondest memories was spending time with her sister Cheryl at high school dances. They were inseparable and cherished every moment they shared together.

In addition to her successful career and close relationships, Phyllis also had a passion for artistic expression. She loved to draw and had a talent for bringing beauty to life through her artwork. Recognizing her exceptional skills, she was awarded an Art Scholarship to John Herron School of Arts – a proud accomplishment that brought immense joy and pride to both Phyllis and her loved ones.

Phyllis had an infectious smile that could light up any room. She possessed a loving and giving nature that touched the hearts of all those around her. Her genuine care for others allowed her to shower people with kindness and support whenever they needed it most.

Outside of work and artistry, Phyllis found solace in two significant hobbies: singing and drawing. These activities allowed her to express herself creatively and find comfort in moments of solitude.

Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her but especially by those closest to her heart. She leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and selflessness.

Phyllis is survived by her beloved mother, Carolyn (Jim) Green; her son Nicholas Sanders; her niece Candace Reeves/Chaney; her nieces Rochelle Bailey, Cheryl Reeves Wicks, and Valerie Ball; her brothers James Lee and Bervin Scott Lee; and a host of great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father James Lee Sr. and sister Kim Lee.
