Phyllis Landis Gary

Mrs. Phyllis Joan Landis Gary, age 96, passed away on April 28th, 2026. She was born on March 13th, 1930, in Sheridan, Indiana, the oldest daughter of the late Sherman and Helen Landis.

‍Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Donald Gary; two brothers, Joseph Landis and David Landis; and one sister, Mary Jane Wright.

‍Phyllis was a 1948 graduate of Sheridan High School, where she was a member of the school band. Following graduation, she worked as an accountant at Biddle Screw Products in Sheridan. After marriage in 1951, she moved to Carmel, Indiana, and focused on her family as a homemaker. She was a member of the Friends Church of Carmel, Indiana, and a lifelong Quaker. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, needlepointing, puzzles of all kinds, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her greatest joy was when all her family gathered together with her.

‍Phyllis is survived by her son, Steve Gary (Karen), daughter, Karen Wallace (Rich), and son, Brian Gary (Tina); seven grandchildren, Jennifer Manning (Andrew), Madelyn Gary, Emily Srejma (Nicholas), Jacquelyn Hubbard (Jason), Abigail Gary, Nicole Gary, and Samantha Gary; and three great-grandchildren, Jackson Hubbard, Charlotte Srejma, and Juliet Hubbard. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

‍Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Rd, Indianapolis, followed by a funeral service. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
