Phyllis Ellen McIver Bennett
82, Brownsburg, passed away Friday, October 12, 2012. Phyllis was born to Charles and Bertha (James) McIver on October 21, 1929 in Paoli, Indiana. She spent her youth in the Fountain Square area of Indianapolis where she attended Emmerich Manual High School.
Phyllis married Charles Burton Bennett on New Year's Eve 1948, and they were together for 59 years until his death in 2007. Together they enjoyed tracing the family history, card games, and were active in their church. Phyllis was also an avid reader of mysteries, and thoroughly enjoyed PBS and BBC dramas and mysteries. In retirement, Phyllis and Charles enjoyed traveling around the midwest's small towns in search of any records of family history. She was also an accomplished quilter who enjoyed making sure her family and friends were outfitted with her creations. Phyllis was preceded in death by her daughter Barbara Kingery, and is survived by sons Michael, and his wife Susan, Charles, and William and his wife Pamela. Also four grandchildren, Frederick, Patrick, Kristina, and Amy, and three great-grandchildren James, Celestia, and Lily.
