Phyllis Kavanaugh Supple
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend passed away on December 13, 2010. She was born on February 18, 1928 to Mary and Raymond Early in Hillsboro, Illinois. Both predeceased her as did her brothers Bob and Richard. The family relocated to Indiana in 1933 where she graduated from St. Catherine of Sienna grammar school and St. John Academy High School. She was awarded an academic scholarship to Butler University.
In 1949 she married her childhood sweetheart “Jimmy” Kavanaugh who preceded her in death. They owned and operated Plumbers Supply, a wholesale plumbing and heating company in Indianapolis and Fishers from 1961 until his death in 1988.
Together they reared eight wonderful children who survive. They are: Michael (Linda Vogelgesang), Timothy (Noreen Caulfield), Martin (Ginger Buckheister), Maureen (Brad Snyder), Kevin (Yolanda Gutierrez), Patrick (Michelle Wagner), Brian (Robin O’Dell) and Mary (Tony Murphy). She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In 1993 she married James Supple from Crystal River, Florida who passed away in 2003. She is survived by his five children: Dr. Peg Supple, Jim (Catalina), Jeanne Supple, John (Deborah), and Joseph, plus six additional grandchildren.
Phyllis was a member of the Guardian Angel Guild, the Clowes Hall Women’s Community and St. Elizabeth Seton Womens Club. She was also a lifetime member of the Einsiedeln Society of St. Meinrad Archabbey and Seminary. She enjoyed travel, golf and bridge, but was especially proud of and took pleasure in spending time with her large family.
Phyllis, who was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Carmel, was also a past member of Our Lady of Grace in Noblesville and St. Andrew the Apostle in Indianapolis.
Phyllis and her family are grateful to her caregivers as she fought through the last stages of her battle with cancer. Special thanks to Dr. Steven Schultz and his staff, Huser Home Care and St. Vincent Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 17, at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 10655 Haverstick Road, Carmel. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center Carmel, 325 E. Carmel Drive, and also one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, she asked that any memorial contributions in her name be made to the Susan B. Komen Foundation.
