Phillip R. Ripberger, 68, of Indianapolis, entered into rest surrounded by his family and friends, Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at his home in Indianapolis, IN. Phillip was born in Merced, CA, son of Joseph C. and Phyllis (Hutchison) Ripberger. He was a graduate of Sececina High School in Indianapolis and entered the United States Marine Corps after graduation, where he served two tours of duty in Vietnam. Phillip was a member of Carpenters Local 60 and Teamsters Local 716. The family would like to extend a special thank you to American Home Hospice for all their support and care. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Sparks Ripberger, his daughter, Sherry Ewing of Kokomo, IN; granddaughter, Inderea Pottenger of Indianapolis, mother, Marti Ripberger of Zionsville, IN; brother, William L. Ripberger (Judy) of Indianapolis; stepson, Jeff Sparks (Jeanne) and step-daughter, Sandy Holmes all of Indianapolis; 5 step grandchildren and 6 step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, David Ripberger. Visitation 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday, October 28, 2011 at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center at Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, IN 46229. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the funeral center. Burial will be in the Zionsville Cemetery with military rites at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to your local Humane Society.
