Phillip M. Walker, 92, of Indianapolis, passed away May 4, 2018. Phillip was born in Indianapolis on October 23, 1925 the youngest of eight children born to the late William A. and Mildred (McGownan) Walker. He graduated from Shortridge High School in 1944 and Butler University. Phillip served his country honorably in the US Army during WWII. During his career, he worked as a postal clerk with the US Postal Service, retiring in 1985.
Phillip was a member of the American Legion and the WWII Round Table. He enjoyed music, singing in many local choral groups and was converse in four languages including French, German, Spanish and Italian and at the time of his death, he was in the process of learning Russian.
In addition to his parents and seven siblings, Phillip was preceded in death by his wife, Maytha (Jarboe) Walker, whom he married on November 23, 1960 at the Indianapolis 1st Presbyterian Church.
Family and friends may gather from 11am until 1pm on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Flanner Buchanan- Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Ave, Indianapolis, where his funeral service will immediately follow at 1pm.
