Phillip Eugene Stephens,
84, of Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2013. He was born on November 16, 1928 in Gallatin, TN to Robert Key and Susie Mae (Witt) Stephens. Phillip was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, and worked for Allison Transmission, retiring in 1992.
He was an avid NASCAR fan, always cheering for Tony Stewart, and enjoyed watching the Colts play on TV. Most of all, Phillip loved his children and grandchildren, who brought so much joy to his life.
He is survived by his children, Rickey (Deborah) Stephens, Jeffrey (Diane) Stephens, Judy (Mark) Clements; grandchildren, Tom (Jenn), Jon (Maureen), Chris (Michelle), Shells; and great-grandchildren, Robert and Lani. Phillip is also survived by his former spouse, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Roberta Stephens; and longtime companion, Ruth.
Visitation for Phillip will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2013 from 2 until 6pm at Flanner and Buchanan – Speedway. Funeral services will be Monday morning at 10am, also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lincoln Memory Gardens, Whitestown. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society: Relay for Life.
