Philip Richard Schnelker

Philip Richard Schnelker son, brother, father, grandfather, and dear friend to many.Passed at the age of 64 on October 24, 2016 due to natural causes. He graduated from North Central High School in 1971. He then went on to serve 45 years in the lighting industry, with his latest employment being with Westifeld Lighting a division of Ferguson located in Westfield Indiana.He was very dedicated to his work and strived to please every person he had the pleasure of working with. He was a family man and enjoyed spending quality time with his children and grandchildren.He was a man with a huge heart always helping those in need he enjoyed motorcycles and often to part in charity rides and benefits. He always enjoyed a good cruze with no point of destination but to just hit the open road. In his later years he took great pride in his corvette. Rain or shine he spend every Sunday washing and waxing for hours until he reached his standards. In his down time you could often find him wrapped up in a game of scrabble. To sum it all up he had a heart of gold and he always wore it on his sleeve. Philip was the son of Harold W. and Cecilia A. Schnelker of Indianapolis, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Michael Schnelker. He will be sorely missed by his immediate family: brother H. James and wife Barbara Schnelker of San Diego, California; sister Carol and husband Bill Forssander of Naperville, Illinois; and sister-in-law Pamela (Michael) Schnelker of Indianapolis; his 7 children: Amy (Mark) McClure and Lori Schnelker of Phoenix, Arizona; Katelyn, Michael, A.J., and Zack Schnelker of Fishers; and Samantha Schnelker of Greenwood; his 2 grandchildren; Jacob Whicker of Southport, and Kolbie Schnelker of Fishers; as well as many other close relatives including nieces, nephews, and close friends.Visitation will be held on Monday, October 31st at Flanner and Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite) at 9700 Allisonville Rd in Indianapolis from 10-1 p.m., with the funeral service to begin at 1 p.m. You are invited to join the celebration of Phil's life and/or leave online condolences at www.flannerandbuchanan.com.
