Philip P. Capasso, 82, of Carmel, passed away August 28, 2018. He was born June 16, 1936, in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Indianapolis in 1962. He spent 38 years with Medical Protective Company serving medical professionals with insurance services.
Phil proudly and honorably served in the United States Army from 1954 until 1957. He was a member of the Millersville Masonic Lodge #126. Throughout his adult life, he enjoyed singing in the Second Presbyterian Choir, was an avid supporter of the Indianapolis Symphony and was a longtime board member of the Indianapolis Opera. He loved collecting and watching vintage films and regularly attended annual film conventions throughout the country.
Phil was a loving husband, step-father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Betty Capasso; three step-children, Kris (Velda Morgan) Groseclose, Linda (Henry) Carruth, Kurt (Angie) Groseclose; seven grandchildren, Julia (Chuck), Jacqueline, Kylle (Jared), Thomas, Tanner (Sunny), Kristine, and Kaden; three great grandchildren, Lilly, Morgan, Waylon; and a sister, Anna Marie and her children, Damiano Campanelli, Nicoletta Campenelli and Cristina Catron.
Phil was dearly loved by all who knew him and will be sorely missed. He was a blessing in all of our lives.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive. Visitation will immediately follow the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Indianapolis Opera (www.indyopera.org).
