Philip Michael Shelly,
69, of Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2012. He was born on December 30, 1942 in LaPorte, IN to Homer Earl and Marjorie Evelyn (Graham) Shelly. Michael graduated from Galveston High School in 1961 and earned his BS in Political Science from Indiana University in 1966. After graduation he worked for the U.S. Census Bureau. He later moved to Indianapolis where he worked as a Security Officer for Indiana National Bank until 1994, and at the U.S. Postal Hub until 2012. In his free time Michael enjoyed watching and attending Butler and IU Basketball games and was very passionate about genealogy research and history. He is survived by his wife of nearly 35 years, Wanda (Elliott) Shelly; daughters, Lucy and Amanda Shelly. Michael was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 4 until 8pm at Flanner and Buchanan - Speedway. A private graveside service will be conducted at Galveston Cemetery, where Michael will be laid to rest next to his parents. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society.
