Philip Collier Gordon, 70, of Zionsville, died October 28, 2011 in Carillon Beach, FL. He was born on November 14, 1940 to the late Russell L. and Marjorie (Collier) Gordon in Indianapolis. Phil graduated from Pike High School in 1959 and attended Purdue University Extension in Indianapolis. He and Mary M. Fox were united in the Sacrament of Marriage at St. Michael Catholic Church in Indianapolis on February 27, 1965. Phil served his country in the Army Reserves. He served on the Marion County Sherriff's Department and the Pike Township Volunteer Fire Department. Phil was employed for 30 years as an outside salesman for Porter Paints, retiring in 2005. Phil was a member of St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. A loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Phil loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed time with them at home, traveling, and on his pontoon boat. He was lovingly called Papaw not only by his own grandchildren, but also by other children of family and friends. Phil will truly be missed by those who survive him: his loving wife Mary M. Gordon; sons P. Kevin (Lori) Gordon and Christopher M. (Christine) Gordon; grandchildren Emily, Andrew, Mary Grace, Mia, and Molly; his brother-in-law Ed Kleese; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Ann M. Kleese. Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011 from 4 to 8 pm at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 1870 W. Oak, Zionsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Nov. 4, at 11 am, with calling one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Alphonsus Liguori Youth Ministry Program.
