Peter Anthony Alveal Senior, 90, of Indianapolis, IN & Chile passed away on August 27, 2021 holding the hand of his loving wife Shirley Alveal. Born 1931 in Concepción, Chile, Peter is survived by his wife, Shirley of 45 years, and children, Marion Loreto Alveal, (Chile), Bruno Alveal, the late Viviana Alveal, and Pete Alveal, Jr. He has numerous grandchildren and several great grandchildren who affectionately referred to him as Papa Pete.
Peter was known for his love of the Indianapolis Colts, St. Monica church, and for having numerous friends and admirers around the globe. One of his biggest accomplishments was being a father and giving his children the opportunity to build a life in the United States. He was a positive force in many people’s lives and taught his family to enjoy every moment life has to offer. Prior to coming to the United States, Peter worked in Civil Engineering for the largest infrastructure projects in Chile. In the US his professional life included working for Indiana University.
A dedicated Catholic, he served as a senior member of the church, helping many families that immigrated to the US settle and build new lives in the Indianapolis region. He and Shirley were generous donors, giving of their time, & funds to rebuild St Monica Church. He was a handsome, educated man that held high expectations for his children and family; always quick to laugh and give a hug. He was a staunch patriot and loved everything the United States offered. He will be truly missed.
The visitation will be held at St. Monica Catholic Church with viewing from 12:30 – 2:30, and Funeral Mass at 2:30 pm September 11, 2021. Burial will follow at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery Indianapolis, IN.
