Peggy Gene Brown, 84, of Fishers, Indiana, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026.
Peggy was born on December 15, 1941, in Danville, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Joseph C. Brown, with whom she built a life centered around family, laughter, resilience, and love.
She is survived by her three children, Jeffery (Annie) Brown, Darin (Robin) Brown, and Stacy (David) Beeler; and by her five beloved grandchildren: Joseph (“Joey”), Katelyn, and Jacob Brown, and DJ (David Jr.) and Rachel Beeler.
For many years, Peggy worked as a florist, a fitting profession for someone who brought beauty, warmth, and personality wherever she went. She had a creative spirit and encouraged that same creativity in her children, cheering them on through their many interests and pursuits in life.
Peggy especially loved gathering the family together around the holidays. Her home was often filled with food, laughter, stories, and the kind of memories that quietly become treasured family history. To know Peggy was to know someone who could make people laugh. She was, as many would say, an absolute “hoot.”
Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. When they were young, she loved teaching them how to bake cookies, helping them learn life skills, and encouraging them to become confident and self-sufficient.
One of Peggy’s most memorable quotes was:
“I’m smart. People just don’t ask me the right questions.”
It was funny, insightful, and unmistakably her.
The older her family got, the more profound those words became. Peggy understood something important about people: that many go through life misunderstood not because they lack wisdom, but because nobody slows down long enough to ask about the things they know, care about, or have lived through. She believed there were entire reservoirs of wisdom hidden beneath the surface of ordinary conversations.
That perspective reflected the kind of person Peggy was — thoughtful, observant, humorous, and far wiser than she sometimes received credit for.
Her family will deeply miss her humor, encouragement, curiosity, and the unique warmth she brought into every room she entered.
