Pauline R. Baker

January 25, 1919 — August 28, 2016

Pauline (Robinson) Baker, 97, born Jan. 25, 1919 nearMartinsville, Indiana, the youngest of three children. She was the daughter ofCamden R. and Bethel Norman Robinson.

Her father, Camden Robinson, was killed when she was 9months old, leaving her mother to support her children, Ralph Robinson,Marguerite Hicks and Pauline in the Depression Era. Her grandparents lived on afarm where she learned to work and love the outdoors. She has special memories ofa horse named Lady that they claimed as their own.

Pauline graduated from Martinsville High School in1937 and Approved University of Cosmetology, 1939.

In her teenage years, she attended the First BaptistChurch of Martinsville. During one of the Baptist Youth Fellowship meetings,she met her future husband. Paulinemarried Herschel M. Baker on May 18, 1941. He preceded her in death, August 20,2002 after 61 years of marriage.

After World War II, Herschel and Pauline returned toMartinsville and lived there for 17 years, they served as hosts to many churchand high school assembly speakers. In 1963, in Marion County, Herschel retiredafter 44 years in education. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Sigma. She workedfor Butler University Bookstore as a bookkeeper and retired in 1982.

Pauline will be remembered for her hard-work,dedication to family, her strong faith in God and living a Godly life. She seta wonderful example for her family about never giving up, self-discipline andmaking the most of what she was given. She loved to work in her garden and tendto her beautiful flowers along side her husband. She loved to travel andenjoyed many adventures with her family. She is survived by her daughter,Jacqueline Moore; grandchildren, Jodi Moore and Michael (Michelle) Moore; hergreat-grandchildren, Gus and Max Moore.

Visitation will be held from 4:00PM to 7:00 PM Friday,September 2, 2016 at Flanner andBuchanan-Speedway 2950 N. High School Rd. Indianapolis, IN 46224. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday at the funeral home. Burialwill be in Nebo Memorial Garden in Martinsville.
