Fishers, IN

Pauline Dorothy Jefferson, 89, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022.  She was born on October 20, 1932 in Gary, IN as the youngest of 10 children born to the late David and Mary (Jonushaitis) Strakis.

Before settling on a Southwest Indianapolis farm, Pauline’s earliest years were spent on farms in Northwest Indiana. She, as well as her future husband, and four children attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Ben Davis High School.  Pauline married John Jefferson in 1950. She worked many years at Stirling Clinic, the physicians’ office of her sister and brother-in-law.  Her life was filled with family time and traveling the world with her husband. She was actively involved with Westview Osteopathic Hospital through volunteering & fundraising, enjoyed the Red Hat Society and was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Her Christian faith was extremely important to Pauline and she spent a lifetime in Bible study.

Pauline will be remembered as a family focused and generously strong woman of faith.

Pauline is survived by her children, Linda Wallace (Jim), John III, Mark (Cathy), Paul (Karen), nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Anna Rosebrough.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; 8 siblings (Emil Strakis, George Strakis, Martha Knopf, Otto Strakis, Herman Strakis, Esther Nicholas, John Strakis, Marie Stirling); and her beloved husband, John P. Jefferson II.  Also, she is survived by many nieces and nephews that were all so important to her.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, from 10:30-11:30am at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 8115 Oaklandon Rd., with a memorial service immediately following.  Pauline will be laid to rest privately in Washington Park East Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Child & Family Services (https://www.lutheranfamily.org/how-to-help/) or Rock Steady Boxing (https://www.rocksteadyboxing.org/donate/)
