Paula (Dooley) Strouse
Passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2015 after a four-month battle with a brain tumor. An Indianapolis native, Paula graduated from School 84, Broad Ripple High School, and Indiana University. At IU, she earned a degree in Journalism and Religion, and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
Paula was a financial advisor, assisting clients for over twenty years, the past twelve at City Securities. She was trained, certified and a member of Central Indiana Association of Collaborative Professionals holding a number of securities and insurance licenses. Prior to her career in the financial industry, she worked for seventeen years in the retail industry with Shillitos, L.S. Ayres, Paul Harris and Talbots.
Paula was extremely busy with work and supporting her family members in their activities, but still found time to make a significant contribution to the community. She served as a Director for the Christ Church Cathedral Foundation Board, as a board member of Easter Seals Crossroad Rehabilitation Center, a member of the Meridian Street United Methodist Churchs Administrative Boards Finance Committee and Fairbanks Hospital Finance Committee. She also served on the fundraising committee for Christ Church Cathedrals Men and Boys Choir and volunteered for Washington Townships Special Olympic program.
Paula loved to travel and gather with her family, sorority sisters and friends. She lived her life unselfishly, putting the needs of others before her own. Undaunted by the many challenges faced by her family, she focused on solutions while remaining upbeat and optimistic. Many were her accomplishments, but she was, beyond all things, a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend.
She is survived and missed deeply by her husband of thirty-one years, Richard; daughter, Sarah; son, Dean; parents, M. Dean and Connie Dooley; a sister, Diane Gotshall (Matt); brother, Michael Dooley; two nephews, their spouses and families; and countless friends.
Visitation will be held at Meridian Street United Methodist Church, 5500 N. Meridian Street, from 10:30am 2:00pm on Monday, December 14, 2015, with her funeral service immediately following at 2pm. Interment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions should be made to either Riley Childrens Foundation Developmental Pediatrics/Down Syndrome Clinic or the Sarah A. Strouse Supplemental Needs Trust dated September 28, 2015.
