Paul I. Smith
79, longtime resident of Zionsville, IN died Sept. 22, 2013. He was born on September 21, 1934 in Lakeville, IN to the late Clarence and Grace (Hoover) Smith. Paul was a graduate of Lakeville High School and honorably served his country with the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He then attended Purdue University. Paul was married for 46 wonderful years to Mildred "Jeannie" Smith, the love of his life.
Paul was the owner of Industrial Belting and Supply and Modern System Roofing. He was a past officer of American Legion Post 79, and used his time, energy, and resources to support the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Special Olympics, and the American Cancer Society. Paul and Jeannie lived their faith through their service to others, especially those who were in great need.
Paul is survived by his children Diana J. Baker, Lecia M. Hollis and husband Mark, Patricia Ann Smith, Linda K. Robinson, and Steven P. Smith, 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. His three brothers and two sisters also survive him. Paul was preceded in death by his wife and infant son.
Calling will be from 2-5 pm on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013 at Flanner and Buchanan Zionsville. A memorial service celebrating Paul's life will follow at 5 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Boone County Cancer Society, 117 W Elm St, Lebanon, IN 46052.
