Paul D. Scott,

84, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on August 29, 2016. He was born to the late Murray E. and Elizabeth C. (Coleman) Scott in Frankfort, Kentucky, on December 31, 1931. Paul served in the United States Navy from February 27, 1951 to February 28, 1955. He spent 2 years on shore in Sasebo, Japan, and the remainder of his service on the Philippine Sea CVA carrier. Paul attended the University of Kentucky from 1955-1959, earning his ABJ degree in journalism.
On June 7, 1957 he married Bettie Sue (Grugin) and the two had two children; Roy C. Scott (Melissa) and Susan P. Haines (Steve). In the early 60’s he was awarded the honor of the Kentucky Colonel Commission, of which he was very proud. On April 12, 1980 he married Dorothy Mae (Dickerson) Scott, who passed on July 14, 2016. Paul and Dorothy shared 36 wonderful years of marriage together. He spent a major part of his life working as the editor of materials and publicity at the Christian Church Disciples of Christ Church in Indianapolis, but had many other jobs in his lifetime. He worked at various newspapers, worked as an assistant Minister at the First Christian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma; and after retiring worked as a driver at car dealership and also at a funeral home.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents and his wives. He is survived by his brother, John Scott; his son Roy and his wife, Melissa, his daughter Susan and her husband Steve; his grandchildren, Nathaniel (Chrissy) Scott, Nicholas (Alexandria) Scott, and Valerie Scott; and his great-grandchildren, Noah, Gabriel, Nolan, Levi, Molly, Marcy, Joel, and a player to be named later.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 1 at Heather Hills Baptist Church, 1421 North German Church Road, Indianapolis IN from 10am to service time at 12pm. Paul will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Frankfort, Kentucky Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 12:00 PM.
