Paul Richard Lipps

Paul Richard Lipps, 71, of Carmel, passed away suddenly, Wednesday at St. Vincent Hospital. Paul was born August 20, 1943 in Indianapolis, the son of Paul and Leona (Losey) Lipps. Paul was devoted to his children's sports teams and activities, and served as youth group leader at his church. He was an avid Colts, racing, and Cincinnati Reds fan, and loved boating. Paul attended Purdue University and found his passion in construction and developing neighborhoods. He was a contractor and developer, developing Smokey Hollow, Carrington Woods and Smokey Ridge neighborhoods. He also built the Education Wing of St. Mark's United Methodist Church where he was a longtime member. Paul along with his wife Kay, co-founded The Elvis Fantasy Fest that raised over $300,000 for Porter County Special Olympics. He was preceded in death by his father and step-father, William McNeely. Paul is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Kay (Ross) Lipps, daughters, Toni Pierson (Randy) of New Palestine, IN, Traci Lipps, of Indianapolis; son, Paul David Lipps of Carmel; mother, Leona McNeely of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Julie and Meagan Bareford, Meredith and Grant Paul Lipps; Gabbi and Aaron Pierson; brother John Lipps (Shelley) of Indianapolis; sister, Monica McNeely of Indianapolis; nephews, Ryan and Danny. A celebration of Paul's life will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, October 6, 2014, at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 4780 E. 126th St. Carmel, IN 46033. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 5, 2014 at St. Mark's from 6:00-8:00 PM and on Monday, one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's United Methodist Church or the Porter County Special Olympics, 980 Portage Ave., Chesterton, IN 46304.
