Paul Lewis Lawrence (Cdr. Ret. USN) passed away peacefully in hospice care on May 9, 2026, in Carmel, Indiana.

He was born in Decatur County, Indiana, on April 30, 1937. He graduated from New Point High School in Decatur County and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Rhode Island.

Paul spent his career as a pilot in the U.S. Navy. He loved flying and flew all over the world on his mission to protect our country and its citizens. He received many awards and recognitions for his outstanding leadership and service.

He was preceded in passing by his parents, Claud and Wilma (Griffin) Lawrence, his sister Dorothy (Lawrence) Wolford, his brother Gerald Lawrence, and his brother James Lawrence.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janet, his much-loved daughters Lisa Lawrence and Lori (Lawrence) Kamminga, and his beloved granddaughter Shelby Kamminga. Additional survivors include his brother Mervin (Agatha) Lawrence, sister-in-law Dot Lawrence, and many nieces, nephews, and great and great-great nieces and nephews.
