Paul Fredrick Scherer

Paul Fredrick Scherer, Jr., 77, of Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2014. He was born on June 10, 1937 in Jennings County, IN to Paul F. Scherer, Sr. and Martha Belle (Cady) Scherer. Paul was a 1955 graduate of North Vernon High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He worked as an Electrician for Allison Transmission for 38 years, retiring in 2000. Paul was an avid woodworker and enjoyed playing golf and traveling. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda (Eller) Scherer; children, David (Dawn) Scherer, Mike (Diana) Scherer, Amy (Mike) McKenna; grandchildren, David (Bridget) Scherer, Jr., Megan (Brandan) Covington, Peter Scherer, Kimberley Scherer, Kayla Scherer, Scott Scherer and Abigail McKenna. Paul is also survived by his sister, Martha Reed and brother, Willard Scherer. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Henry Scherer and Imojean McKinney; as well as his daughter, Beth Ann Scherer. Funeral services for Mr. Scherer will be held on Monday, September 29, 2014 at 5pm at Flanner and Buchanan – Speedway. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service, also at the funeral home. Cremation will follow with a private burial in Brownsburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Phi Beta Psi Sorority.
