Paul Doane

Paul J. Doane 90, died January 1, 2013. Mr. Doane formerly of Noblesville Indiana moved to the Villages in Florida in 2005. On Tuesday, June 5, 1990 Paul J. Doan, Senior Vice President - Operations was honored for his 50 years of service as an employee of the Indianapolis Water Company. Beginning his career at IWC in 1940, Paul has held many positions from Laborer to Vice President and Director of Distributions before taking his final position as Senior Vice President of Operations. He came to the company for summer employment after graduation from Arsenal Technical High School, except for a four year stint in the navy from 1942-1946. This s the only job he has ever had. After he retired he worked another five years for a total of 55 years for IWC. During his time at IWC, Paul attended Purdue University. He also received his master plumber license in 1969. Paul started work at IWC because his father Charles, a 45 year I.W.C. employee worked there, along with Paul's four Uncles (the Emery's). In addition, Paul received a Sagamore of the Wabash certificate from Governor Evan Bayh. Mayor William Hudnut sent a proclamation naming June 5, 1990 as Paul J. Doane day in the city of Indianapolis. Paul was married to Peggy Lee for 67 years before she passed on December 26, 2009. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Medford and Linda Barr of the Villages, Florida; his son Joseph Doane 72 of Summerfield, Florida died March 4, 2013. Paul and Peggy had 6 children, 19 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 11:00am at Flanner and Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN with visitation from 10:00am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Life Christian Church, 407 E. CR 462, Wildwood, FL 34785. After Paul's services, there will be a short memorial service for Joseph Doane who died March 4, 2013. Survivors include longtime companion Sally Carrier, her children Rhonda, Kevin and Darrell and Joe's four children, Eileen, Patty, Joseph, and Kathleen alone with 10 grandchildren.
