Paul Bradley

Paul Edwards Bradley (100) was born Dec 1, 1910 and died June 28, 2011 in Indianapolis. He was absolutely enthralling, high spirited, loving and full of fun. There was a hint of exotic things hidden in his wisdom. Not only was he brave, handsome, loyal, kind and generous, but he did what he did, governed by his own rules in this life, with standards of conduct and decency no less strict than the original ten. He never asked for approval HE WON IT. Paul and his wife Georgia (99) experienced the most astounding world changing events during their long and illustrious lifetimes, from the invention of electricity, the telephone, moving pictures, to computers and a man on the moon. Paul’s knowledge and mastery of electricity, film making and entrepreneurial spirit provided the tools for a very successful career. He founded and operated Bradley Electric Company, Paul Bradley Real Estate (Commercial), La Salle Reality (Residential) and Skyways Unlimited a very successful aerial photography agency. His love of flying (he owned 6 airplanes) provided entrée and friendship with the likes of Bob Shank, first pilot to fly the U.S. Mail, and the renowned Roscoe Turner. Mr. Bradley piloted his own plane all over the continental United States as well as Cuba, Mexico and Canada. He and Georgia were world travelers, traveling to Australia, Alaska, Hawaii, Tahiti, Spain, Mexico and Canada. Born in Indianapolis, Paul was forced to end his formal education at a very early age. However, at his advanced age he never stopped learning. At age 93, he took a computer class at the library. The untimely death of his beloved father John B. Bradley forced him to become head of the household which consisted of his mother Viola Bradley, a pious, patriotic woman who instilled in him the essential goodness which he faithfully practiced every single day, his Sister Thelma, deceased, brother Leander, deceased, kid brother Ralph, and beautiful baby sister Beulah who all helped shoulder the burdens of everyday survival. They survived, prospered and contributed much to those less fortunate. Paul & Georgia define Love Story. Married June 12, 1931 they recently celebrated with family and friends 80 glorious years together. They were blessed with Paul Richard (Diana); granddaughter Julie Lewandowski (Vince), Cynthia Lowe (David), great granddaughter Rachel Lowe; granddaughter Victoria Bradley, great grandchildren Chole and Destin Promiscuo. The blessings kept coming with daughter Nancy Carole Kleppinger; first granddaughter Deborah Damiano, great grandchildren Adam, Becka and John Morgan; grandson Victor Damiano, great grandson Vincent Damiano; grandson Christopher Damiano (Lynette), grandchildren Jake, Vander and Devyn Damiano; Grandson Franz Kleppinger. Daughter Charlene Duggan Barber, grandson Sean Duggan, great grandchildren Delaney, Reese, and Claire and grandson Paul Barber (Jennifer). The joy of family helped sustain them through hard and great times. Paul was a Freemason, Flying Fez, past president of Indianapolis Aero Club, past president Indianapolis Movie Club, member of Indianapolis Athletic Club, White River Yacht Club and many other social organizations. He was an extraordinary example of humanity at its best. We shall never see the likes of him again. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm, Friday, July 1, at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Broad Ripple at 1305 Broad Ripple Avenue in Indianapolis with funeral services at 11 am Saturday, July 2 at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Union Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Conner Prairie Museum, 13400 Allisonville Road, Fishers, Indiana 46038.
