Obituary

Patrick Joseph O’Donnell (PJ), 83, passed away peacefully leaving behind a legacy of dedication to his family, career, and community.

Born on May 12, 1943, in Saginaw, Michigan, PJ was the 5th of 12 children born to William D. Sr. and Anna E. (Favara) O’Donnell. He earned a degree in Accounting and Business from Ferris State University, which paved the way for a successful 33-year career with General Motors.

Retirement didn’t slow PJ down one bit. He split his time between Carmel, Indiana, and Naples, Florida, leaving his mark on both communities. In Indiana, he ran the show as HOA president for over 16 years, and he kept right on volunteering for his community committees in Naples. But let’s be honest—PJ’s absolute favorite job was being the ultimate family man and friend. He lived for the moments surrounded by the people he loved. Whether it was the comradery out on the golf course or gathering everyone around the table for a fierce round of Euchre, he was entirely in his element. He absolutely relished his self-appointed role as the official game organizer and timekeeper. You could always count on PJ to keep the rules straight, the clock ticking, and the good times rolling!

PJ is survived by his loving wife, Merla M. (Ecarius) O'Donnell; his sons, Matthew, (Jennifer) O'Donnell and Paul (Kimmarie) O'Donnell; his daughter, Amy O'Donnell, (Ryan); his six beloved grandchildren and great grandson. He is also survived by his brothers, Michael and Daniel O'Donnell, and his sisters, Mary Kay Ciucci and Barbara Schweitzer. PJ was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, William (Jr.), James, Thomas, Harold, and John O'Donnell; and his sisters, Margaret (Peg) Hatch and Janette (Jan) Vaughan.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on August 7th at Saint Agnes Catholic Church, in the Chapel, located at 7775 Vanderbilt Beach Road, Naples, FL 34120

Interment services will take place at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indiana later this fall.
