Patricia J. Villas

June 9, 1938 — October 8, 2023

Patricia (Joan) McCord Villas, age 85 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Sunday October 8, 2023.

Pat was born on June 9th,1938 in Indianapolis, IN, a daughter of Howard Leon and Martha Frances (Miller) McCord.

Patricia spent a majority of her life on the NE side of Indianapolis.  As a child, she grew up in and around the Broad Ripple area of Indianapolis.  She graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1956.  She continued her education at Indiana University, where she earned a BS in Education 1963 while being a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority.  She finished her advanced education by earning a MS in Education from Butler University 1971.

Shortly after Indiana University, Pat began her teaching career on the NE side of Indianapolis at Belzer Middle School in Lawrence Township, where she taught for 2 years.  While there, she earned a scholarship for six weeks of education in Spain.  Upon her return from Spain, she began her 30+ years of teaching high school Spanish at Lawrence Central High School from where she retired.

Pat never met a stranger and had a fantastic, eclectic group of friends.  She enjoyed spending time with those friends, getting together, traveling, and giving back.  She loved having parties for the holidays at her house where all were invited.  Most had a great time, and nobody ever left hungry.  She also spent a lot of time traveling and has been all over the world from the Orient to Europe to Hawaii.  In her later years, her group of friends, affectionately referred to as the “Geezer Babes”, traveled the roads in the continental United States from Colorado to Branson to various other locations.  She loved experiencing new places with her dear friends.  Lastly, she was always giving back.  She donated money to several non-for-profit organizations.  She was most passionate about the Assistance League of Indianapolis where she was a long-time member.  She enjoyed helping with all the various good ALIndy does for the community, especially Operation School Bell, a program which provides free clothes, toiletries and school supplies to under privileged children in need at the beginning of each school year.  Pat Villas definitely had a big heart and great friends to go along with it.

Pat was preceded in death by her first husband Tom Bauer, second husband Robert Villas, and stepson Michael Villas (son Benjamin).

She is survived by two sons: Brian (wife Theresa sons Tanner and Dawson) Bauer of Louisville, Colorado and Jason (wife Christy daughter Aspen) Villas of Indianapolis, Indiana.  One stepdaughter Gina (wife Sharon children Jessica, Daniel, Lucas, and Jordan) Villas of Portland, Indiana.  In addition, she is survived by 8 amazing grandchildren, Aspen, Tanner, Dawson, Jessica, Daniel, Lucas, Jordan, and Benjamin.
