Patricia J. Shockley

Patricia J. Shockley, 95, passed away on January 12, 2026. Born on May 4, 1930, to Agnes R. Hyland Watson and Harry James Watson, she was the youngest of three children. Pat attended St. Agnes Academy before her marriage to Fay Shockley, Jr., a union that lasted 67 years until his death.

Pat always said her dream was to be a mother and she was a spectacular one, loving not only her children but anyone who came into her sphere. For three decades she was a school volunteer, serving as classroom assistant, room mother, and PTO president in two elementary schools.

A sixty-eight-year member of First Christian Church, Beech Grove, Pat served in various capacities including Sunday School teacher, youth group leader, CWF president, helping to lead a mental health ministry, and was one of the congregation’s first women Elders. For years Pat also delivered Meals on Wheels.

Her children, Diane (Richard), Douglas (Diana), David (Lisa), and Daniel, thirteen grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren survive. Patricia was predeceased by her parents and siblings, James H. Watson and Joanne Watson Dwyer.

Her grateful family thank the medical team and staff at Envive, formerly St. Paul Hermitage, for the friendship and excellent care she received for the last seven years.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 2pm in the St. Paul Chapel at Envive of Beech Grove, 501 N. 17th Ave. Friends may call from Noon to 2pm.
