Patricia Anne (McFeely) Rains, 93 of New Castle, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 24th, 2025 surrounded by family and loved ones. Born on February 10, 1932, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Patricia lived a life defined by devotion to her family, strong values, and faith.
She was the daughter of the Thomas James Aloysius McFeely and Dorothy Marie (Wolfe) McFeely. Patricia was one of five children and shared a close bond with her siblings Thomasine, Priscilla, Pamela, Dee and her half-brother, Thomas. Thomasine (Tiny) is the only remaining sibling surviving and Pat so cherished and loved her close relationship with Tiny and her husband John.
Patricia was first married to Richard Allen Pierson, Sr. of Greenfield, Indiana, who preceded her in death in 1999. Together they raised a loving family of six children: Cindy (Roger) Pendlum, Deborah (Charles) Colip, Richard (Judy) Pierson Jr, Michael (Becky) Pierson, Randall (Toni) Pierson, and James (Joy) Pierson. Patricia later married Ronnie Clayton Rains of New Castle, Indiana who remained her devoted husband until his passing on November 13, 2024.
Ronnie Rains has four children: Scott (Maggie) Rains, Jeff (Karen) Rains, Missy (Tom) Jacobs, and Alicia (Nick) DeFrancesco.
Pat was the proud grandmother of more than seventy grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought endless joy and warmth to her life. She found fulfillment in simple pleasures — family gatherings, home cooking, and sharing stories about her Irish heritage. Her legacy of love, kindness, and resilience will continue to live on through the generations she helped shape.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Richard and Ronnie; and her beloved siblings. She leaves behind a large and grateful family who will miss her dearly but celebrate a life well lived.
A celebration of Patricia’s life will be held at Flanner Buchanan - Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Rd, Indianapolis IN on January 17th, 2026 from 3:00 - 5:00 PM with a Celebration Dinner following at the District Tap - 3720 E 82nd St, Indianapolis, IN. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Pat's memory to Brighton Hospice, 280 East 96th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46240.
